Sliding back

With all the temptations around us in our egoistic culture today it is so hard not to backslide. There are several reasons I see that could potentially take us to it. The disappointments on our daily experiences. How we compare our individual success from others is another way. Even with the way we devalue our self in the way we have inner conversations. The comfort of new technology which makes it really easy to take us in checking out the stuffs that we have not done for a long time. It could be anything, from lust, anger, self-pity, depression, loneliness, judgmental, hate from the past experiences, vindictive thoughts, swearing etc. We can get in touch with such things also through media most specially the internet. If others are doing it why can't I? If others have no sense of compassion why can't I do the same?

In order to backslide we must have moved forward or moved up personality and character wise. There has to be some sort of a development in treating ourselves and others. It takes persistence to uproot those wrong behaviors we have implanted in our hearts and consciousness if it has been with us in the majority of our life. Which in my opinion is important to weigh it honestly if we have really developed or moved up our senses. Are we claiming it from an egoistic point of view that we are more balanced and improved than before? Or maybe we are just as we are and thought that we are backsliding.

On the other hand our worth should not be diminished in backsliding, who is perfect anyway? In fact noticing such negative feelings in going back to the old lifestyle is I think a great progress. Why you may ask? Because you know now to yourself without any guidance from others at all that you are not suppose to be there anymore. More so in having the effort to step out of it and come back to a much better place. If we can backslide from our old habits that gives us heavy feeling we can also backslide in doing the right and better ways. Either way we are able to manage to make our power to choose because we have both experienced it, the bottom line is always up to us. Should we keep that heavy guilty feelings again or have a simple, freeing and uncomplicated feelings? Making appreciation as our starting point could carry out neutral or create a much positive thoughts. We have so much to be thankful for if only we could switch our perception in seeing everything through humble eyes.

One way I can think of in knowing we have progressed is facing it with a question and awareness if we are going to react to it or respond to it. There is a difference between reacting and responding on a given situation. Reacting for me is just simply acting upon something that is the easiest, most urgent, insecure and selfish that is very much attached to the nature of Ego. Responding however has responsibility and has more logical higher sense. I know it's not an easy task to remind our self of this at the very moment we are so eager and tempted to just react and give others a piece of our mind or hurt someone back or whatever. If it's away from Ego it is difficult to do but has a higher quality of end result. Chaotic consequences is sure to come in an ego-attached reactions. Winning doesn't have to be beating up someone through the method of over powering the other or manipulating the situation but it is about making the right choices.

We are to encourage ourselves and each other by being doers not just hearers of the teachings from the scriptures. I am sure if you are reading this you have been encouraged somehow by the Holy Scripture at one point in your life. We know how important the power of our example is. Personally correcting our self in those small segments that we often not pay attention on our daily activities will inspire others and could really make a difference. If not you, who's going to do it? if not now, when is the appropriate time?

It's the best time for each one of us to take it as our personal purpose to give inspiration through our actions. In the long run it's going to be rewarding inwardly. I like the idealistic thinking of doing this collectively as a human race will make the world a much better place. Now if that is too ambitious for you and may seem comical and cliche-ish, at least our homes will be a much better place in applying this kind of concept. At the very least you will be treating your self much better.

So if we see or felt within our self that we have fallen, be strong in helping yourself in getting up or have the courage to ask someone to help you regain your bearing. Nothing is wrong with falling every now and then no one is perfect. Besides it's getting back up that will take us closer to perfection because of the lessons we have learned from it. Get up! so that one day you can be that person who helps someone who have fallen, who knows that person has the potential of being great in encouraging others.

I appreciate you for taking the time to read this short expression of mine. Thank you and may you have a great and wonderful day. :)
